Shenyang, once called Shengjing and Mukden, was an early Qing capital and later a centre of heavy industry; its imperial palace and industrial districts tell both stories.

On a first visit, Mukden Palace, Beiling Park and Fuling reveal the city’s spatial character and history, while Laobian Dumplings, Guo Bao Rou and Stew add the everyday food culture. Together they connect major landmarks, lived-in neighbourhoods and the pace of the modern city.

This is the most practical first-visit base. Check the actual walk to a metro or major bus stop and group the nearest sights into one day.
